Liz Robins PensionSync guest blog explains the value to SMEs of outsourcing payroll and pensions

Payroll and pensions are complex areas which require specialist know-how, systems and processes.

The great news for SMEs is that many payroll bureaux now use PensionSync technology to ensure that the pension is taken care of seamlessly as part of the payroll process, enabling the bureau to offer a cost-effective and highly efficient outsourcing service which covers both of these important business functions.

Outsourcing to a bureau reduces in-house costs, frees up time and most importantly ensures your payroll is done properly.

Our guest blogger Liz Robins, Managing Director of AS Robins Payroll and HR Services, explains the value of outsourcing in more detail:

AS Robins has been open for over 20 years and we have never experienced so many payroll implications at one time, as we did in 2020. It has been challenging and overwhelming for us, even though we have many years of experience under our collective belts, so we can only imagine how overwhelming it must be for small business owners who run their own payroll.

Last year we were introduced to the word "furlough", which is when an employee is temporarily laid off but kept on the payroll so that they can return as soon as the business begins trading as normal. Over these few months, we have sent out numerous updates to our payroll clients explaining the current situation and any new information that emerged.

Outsourcing your payroll to a bureau which has experienced payroll advisors is certainly beneficial in times such as these. Our clients have someone to ask their questions to and receive guidance on how to convey the current situation to their employees. Our clients rely on us to calculate the pay for employees, for example, who have been self-isolating for 2 weeks but also worked 4 days and then were furloughed, but do not forget also took a few holiday days as well. There is no need to worry about what is due to be paid to your employees or submitting your claim to HMRC when we are handling your payroll.

Payroll is now a lot more complex than just pressing a button which miraculously produces a payslip and submits information to HMRC. All our payroll advisors have a wealth of knowledge which is applied when dealing with unusual situations and it helps them recognise when a different method is to be used.

Outsourcing has so many advantages, but the main is that you will save time. Why spend time doing something that has a huge impact on your company, and you may not fully comprehend the ins and outs?

When you outsource your payroll to us all you need to do is:

  1. Set up a payroll – we now have a new client form available on our website.
  2. Provide employee details – our employee form is available on the website as well.
  3. Send us any details of changes – these changes can be unpaid leave, sickness absence, overtime, maternity, bonus etc.
  4. Sit back as we send your reports back and you and your employees will have access to our portal where the reports, payslips, etc can be viewed.
  5. That is it!

Pass on this time-consuming task to us and enjoy the extra time that can be spent focusing on your company.

If you are an employer interested in outsourcing your payroll and pension administration, you can contact Liz and her team through their website www.asrobins.com, which includes a New Client form so that you can start the ball rolling immediately.
